SHAME stands for "Silent Hill: Alter My Emotions" The title is meant to reflect the sobering, or sometimes even intoxicating, effect that the music of Silent Hill, and music in general, seems to have, helping you get where you want, or need, to go without trying to interfere.

It is technically a remix album but it is different from your average remixes. Some songs are simple remixes, either played backwards or just slightly edited in tone to present something new. Others have parts from multiple songs edited together into a whole new experience, and a few have pieces of songs used as instruments used to create something entirely different.

Ever since putting the first game into my playstation for the first time and hearing the song played over the intro I have been interested in the effect music can have on one's emotions. SHAME was created by accident over the period of eight months in 2008 when I had gained an almost obsessive interest in audio manipulation, in revealing the secrets that the phenomenon called Music held. I bought a copy of Goldwave Audio Editor and dove into the soundtracks from the first four Silent Hill games. I would spend twelve, sometimes eighteen hours a day listening and manipulating portions of my favorite songs, discovering and unlocking the secrets their waves held and saving the results. After a few months I had over three hours of material and decided to edit them down to a single listening experience where, as is each game's OST, the whole is greater than the sum of it's parts. SHAME is meant to be listened to as a whole, each successive song building upon the experience that past songs have lead up to.

I put over 1500 hours of work into SHAME and as long as you use these songs to help you get where you want or need to go, then I consider it time well spent. I go by the name Dispiacere and I have been a fan of Silent Hill since the release of the first game in 1999. Great thanks to Akira Yamaoka for his music, and great thanks to Fungo, if it wasn't for him and his website I wouldn't have had access to the diverse media of Silent Hill and wouldn't have had the chance to dive as deep into it's music as I did.

If you have questions about SHAME, or any of the individual songs, see my youtube channel and send me a message. You can also listen to these songs on my channel or see what else I'm up to if you wish.
